When it is in the best interests of the child and in agreement with the relevant authorities, SOS CV Kenya provides alternative care to children who have been separated from their families and communities. This is done through placement of these children in numerous alternative care options including family like care, kinship care, foster care, Kafalah and supported independent living. Currently we are working with the Government and other stakeholders to assess and reintegrate children from our Children’s Villages, expand the care options in which we place children without parental care and transform the Children’s Villages into integrated community-based child welfare programs in line with the Care Reforms Strategy (2022-2032) and Children's Act (2022).

We take the side of children and young people.

Society's most vulnerable, especially the weakest, need a strong partner - unconditional, passionate, courageous and all with emphasis. This determination is necessary and effective. We are committed to young people who cannot live with their parents as they are exposed to massive unequal treatment and we provide them with improved training opportunities after the end of compulsory schooling. Equal rights for all young people, no matter where they come from.

Family Like Care

The Family-Like Care model provides children with a temporary home, security, medical care, and education.

Today, 1 in 10 children and young people in Kenya are separated from their families, abandoned, neglected, or forced to live in abusive environments, growing up without the support they need to prepare for their future.

Due to challenging circumstances, many parents and families struggle to provide their children with a loving and stable home. SOS Children’s Villages in Kenya helps families who are at risk of breaking apart. Their assistance includes a wide range of tailored support, advice, and educational services aimed at needy children and their parents to help families overcome their challenges and stay together. Parents and families receive support through counseling, skills development, and empowerment with the resources they need to overcome their difficulties. This also includes kinship care to support children living with their extended family. With strong families, children and young people can receive the care and support they need to thrive.
